Tom Rathborn

I am a Director in Grant Thornton’s Consulting practice, leading the firm’s Skills Academy. I specialise in skills and capability programme design, with a background spanning political and economic change advisory, government policy and operational improvement.

Since joining the firm in 2014, I’ve worked across private and public sectors, starting in Public Affairs before moving into operational advisory during Brexit, then local government where I combined policy advisory with operational improvement. I was seconded to the Labour Party ahead of the 2024 General Election, supporting UK government transition planning, before moving into my current role.

I get excited by the opportunity to build impactful training that delivers practical tools, inspires people, and draws on the lived experience of those who have been there and done it. I also love collaborating with others to build communities and networks that support development and personal growth.

Away from work I can usually be found outdoors - running, swimming or cycling (sometimes for charitable causes), at the football or in search of some sun.
