I’m a National Minimum Wage (NMW) specialist with over five years’ experience, four of which include working for HMRC’s NMW enforcement team. I work with employers to provide them with support and guidance, helping them understand and adhere to complex legislation.
NMW is applicable to all sectors and remains a priority focus for the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial strategy (BEIS). HMRC are responsible for the enforcement of the legislation and have a growing budget year on year which is reflected in the number of reviews undertaken on an annual basis.
My understanding of HMRC’s internal processes and procedures is invaluable when advising clients on their NMW position. I ensure they meet all obligations to be confident they are compliant and will not face financial penalties or ‘naming and shaming’ should HMRC undertake an investigation.
Ensuring workers within your business are paid at least the NMW is vital as financial penalties and reputational damage for not doing so can be significant.
I commentate on NMW regularly, providing insights and writing articles. I’m also active on social media, sharing relevant updates to better inform clients, colleagues and contacts on topical issues.
Outside of work I enjoy watching sport, coaching cricket and spending time with friends and family.
