Employee Relations Senior Adviser

Open to any GTUK location + hybrid working

The Employee Relations team provides coaching, guidance, and advice to employees and people managers on various people-related matters including performance and absence management, conflict resolution, policy application, and internal investigations. The team also supports the business by handling complex internal grievances, appeals, and investigations. Additionally, the Employee Relations team oversees transformative internal change projects such as large-scale restructurings, contract negotiations, and TUPE processes.

A look into the role

As a Senior Adviser within our Employee Relations team, you will:

  • manage complex employee relations cases such as long-term sickness absence and conduct formal investigations

  • assist with large or national restructuring programmes including acquisition and disposal projects

  • provide face-to-face and telephone advice, coaching people managers on how to reach fair informal and formal resolutions to potential conflict situations and employee relations cases

  • proactively support the culture of continuous improvement and champion initiatives within the team

  • maintain an accurate case management system to ensure high-quality management information, which enables regular reporting on employee relations cases and provides insights and analysis

  • manage risk, assessing and judging non-financial as well as financial outcomes

  • keep yourself up to date with employment legislation and ensure it is applied in your day-to-day work.

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as an Employee Relations Senior Adviser, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional CIPD qualification with post qualification experience, and to be confident managing complex employee relations cases. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

  • Evidence of delivering in an operational HR role with technical experience in: disciplinaries, capabilities, grievances, appeals, absence management, restructures, and redundancies along with facilitating workshops and coaching

  • A track record which demonstrates ability to build excellent advisory and stakeholder relationships in a highly pressurised environment with tight deadlines

  • Able to demonstrate commerciality and risk awareness

  • Experience in a specialist employee relations role

  • Experience in TUPE acquisitions and disposals

  • Experience of culture change management

  • Experience of working in a professional services firm.
