Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP has expanded its healthcare offering with the appointment of a new clinical governance team.
Sue Cordon joins the firm as a director. She brings a wealth of experience having previously held several senior clinical and managerial roles within the NHS and the Audit Commission. For the last eight years she has worked at a Big Four firm, specialising in conducting internal audit and advisory reviews within the healthcare sector. Sue has extensive experience working with trusts who have had difficulties with regulatory requirements, in particular with Care Quality Commission (CQC) compliance. She also has vast experience in undertaking clinical due diligence work for trusts planning to merge, focusing heavily on clinical and quality governance arrangements.
Pippa Jackson joins the firm as a senior manager. Since 2015 she has been leading on delivering clinical reviews to clients in the healthcare sector following a 30-year career within the NHS, most recently in community health services. She has extensive experience in undertaking multiple mock CQC reviews across all health sectors including acute hospitals, mental health services, community trusts and ambulance trusts. Pippa also specialises in working with trusts to review their progress against CQC action plans and preparing for review inspections.
The team will lead on growing the firm’s presence in the internal audit market, offering a range of clinical and governance assurance reviews to the NHS. They will also focus on expanding the firm’s advisory offering within the NHS, private healthcare, social care and housing sectors. The team’s specialist areas of expertise include patient safety reviews, regulatory compliance reviews and provision of the NHSI’s ‘Well Led’ governance framework reviews.
On the team’s appointment Sue Cordon said: “Grant Thornton’s commitment to the healthcare sector and wider public services is renowned, and we are delighted to be joining a firm with such evident commitment to ensuring the sustainability, growth and continued quality of our public services. I look forward to working with their diverse client base and developing a new and unique offering for health care organisations across the country.”
Mark Stocks, head of public healthcare, Grant Thornton UK LLP, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Sue and Pippa to the firm. Their unique approach will help to expand the firm’s advisory and internal audit offering to healthcare clients, providing valuable assurance on the quality and performance of their services. An effective healthcare system is vital to creating places where people and business can thrive. The team’s work will help improve standards of patient care and instil trust in our public services.”
