Grant Thornton advises Rosebourne Limited

Rosebourne is a group of boutique ‘destination’ garden centres, with sites in Weyhill, Aldermaston and Hampton-In-Arden.

The company raised money to build two purpose-built destination garden centres at Weyhill (completed 2016) and Aldermaston (completed 2018). The Hampton-In-Arden site (leasehold) was purchased from Wyevale in November 2018. Funds were raised from Puma Private Equity and a number of high net worth individuals.

We were brought on board for their sector insights, and were mandated to run a competitive process to maximise valuation for the shareholders. Multiple offers were received for the business, with the premium site locations and customer offerings key to buyer interest even in a period of slowing consumer sentiment.

After a contested final bidding round, Hillier was selected as the preferred bidder, due to the proximity of their headquarters to Rosebourne’s two key sites as well as the strong cultural and strategic alignment between the businesses.
