Grant Thornton welcomes record number of trainees

Grant Thornton UK LLP is proud to welcome a record number of new graduates and school leavers across its January and September intakes this year, with over 450 people joining the firm in 2021.

  • Firm welcomes over 450 new trainees in 2021
  • 20 additional partners join Grant Thornton so far this year
  • Demand across service lines sees firm continue its investment in people and skills

Grant Thornton has recently informed the c.350 trainees due to start their employment in September that due to the disruption caused to their education by the pandemic their offers are unconditional, meaning they will not be impacted by upcoming exam results.

Perry Burton, Head of People and Culture at Grant Thornton UK LLP, said:

“After another year of interruption to education due to the pandemic, we want to provide reassurance to all our new graduate and school leaver joiners that the disruption will not have a negative impact on their career with Grant Thornton. As part of our commitment to inclusion and diversity we have a flexible approach to academic requirements and know that academic performance in isolation is not an indicator of future success. We spotted the potential in the people that we made employment offers to and so we’re fully committed to doing the right thing and welcoming them to the firm later this year as planned. Our continued investment in wellbeing, development and inclusion is something that is really setting us apart and helping retain our great people, as well as being a powerful message in attracting new talent.”

The announcement comes as Grant Thornton continues to invest in talent across all areas of the firm. So far this year, the firm has welcomed 20 partners to the partnership, following 13 partner appointments in 2020. Across its service lines, the firm has also welcomed around 400 experienced hires to help support client demand.

Dave Dunckley, CEO of Grant Thornton UK LLP, said:

"Our robust performance over the past few years has enabled us to continue our commitment to our people, and welcome even more into the firm. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve seen strong client demand for our services, as evidenced in our 2020 Annual Report. This momentum has continued into 2021 and we’re well on track for another successful year. Ensuring we have the right talent to support this growth at all levels of our firm is critical and I'm immensely proud that we remain one of the most attractive employers to candidates.”
