We are delighted to have advised Sumdog Limited on their sale to eEducation Albert AB (Albert).
Sumdog is a global, gamified practice and assessment tool specialising in mathematics, spelling and grammar, providing tailored and engaging practice to circa 650,000 active students, across over 13,000 schools in 30 countries worldwide.
Albert is a fast-growing, listed, education technology business based in Sweden. It has developed a digital maths tutor for children that is currently used by over 300,000 families.
The shareholders of Sumdog approached us in 2021 to support them in seeking the right acquirer and partner to continue to drive future growth in the business, whilst also allowing the shareholders and investors to realise the equity value they had built.
Our team worked closely with the shareholders throughout the process, spending time upfront to prepare the business for a transaction, marketing the business to relevant parties in the Education Technology space and carefully managing workstreams to drive a successful completion.
Ultimately we were able to achieve the shareholder objectives through: utilising our knowledge of the education-technology sector and the business to effectively prepare and position its key attributes and qualities, maximising our network of contacts across the acquirer community to find the right partner, and running an efficient and dedicated process whilst maintaining high quality advice.
The Grant Thornton team delivered an excellent outcome for the shareholders of Sumdog. The team showed great knowledge of the sector and expertise in managing M&A processes and were extremely professional throughout. I was impressed by their commitment, tenacity and aptitude during the transaction. I would have no hesitation in recommending Grant Thornton’s corporate finance team.Andrew Hall Founder, Sumdog Limited
