I'm a chartered accountant with 20 years' experience, and I lead our Finance Transformation work. It started with something I kept seeing in audit: finance teams could produce the numbers but couldn't always explain why they'd moved. That gap is what I've spent my career closing — helping finance functions become something a business can rely on, not just report from.
Day to day, I help finance teams move from reporting the past to shaping the future. I work mostly with businesses who feel that they can get even more value from their finance function. I've seen over 500 finance functions of varying shapes and sizes. I know what good financial information, processes, teams, systems look like, and I know exactly where it tends to break down.
One assignment has stuck with me in particular: a business where sales kept rising but profit didn't move. We rebuilt the finance function end to end — cleaner data, leaner processes, some automation, a reshaped team, and real upskilling so they could properly partner the business. The result wasn't just a tidier finance function — it was one the business trusted to help shape decisions on product, pricing and positioning.
Outside work, you'll usually find me in the garden, or halfway through a DIY project I've dreamt up. Most of my time, though, goes to
our daughter — she's better at keeping me grounded than any improved finance function I’ve helped create.
