In January we hosted a virtual roundtable for charity chairs of audit committees focusing on why charities are an attractive target for hackers. Harriet Raine shares our summary of key discussion points.

The roundtable was attended by charity chairs of audit committee or equivalent, Grant Thornton’s Head of Cyber Operations, Stuart Sivieri, the firm’s Head of Not for Profit, Paul Rao, and some of our audit, assurance and risk experts in the not-for-profit sector. The conversation was held under Chatham House Rules, where the topics discussed included:

  • 2023 National Cyber Statistics and why charities are a target.
  • cloud storage and access.
  • security monitoring and threat intelligence.
  • cyber insurance.
