I am a Partner at Fairgrove, Grant Thornton UK’s strategy and commercial due diligence arm, where I primarily advise private equity investors on commercial due diligence and growth strategy. I began my career at KPMG, advising businesses on operating strategy, operational improvement and cost reduction in both deal and non-deal contexts.
Today, I focus principally on the built environment and infrastructure, advising companies across the value chain: from construction products to facilities management and technical services, as well as professional services businesses operating in building compliance and property and construction consultancy. I also advise manufacturing and distribution businesses serving a broader range of end-markets, including automotive, aerospace and defence.
My approach to work combines rigorous attention to detail with an ability to distil the findings into a clear view of the core investment thesis. I enjoy getting underneath what is really driving a business’s performance and competitive position. When working with management teams, I take a hands-on and empathetic approach, combining constructive challenge with a practical focus on reaching the right outcome.
Hobbies beyond work have become somewhat compressed lately following the arrival of my baby daughter! When time allows, I am an amateur astronomer, can happily get lost in a history book or science fiction novel, and enjoy a long walk with the dog – ideally one that terminates at a pub.
