Andrew joined Grant Thornton in May 2025, after 30 years’ experience as a law firm partner specialising in fraud and asset recovery. He has a mandate of working with the global asset recovery business co ordinating multi-jurisdictional recovery cases leading the interaction with various law firms appointed on the cases.
Andrew has led global teams on many high-profile asset recovery projects, including BCCI (acting for the Cayman liquidators), Stanford International Bank (acting for Grant Thornton as Antigua liquidators), and Bernard Madoff (acting for the largest non-US feeder fund). He has also worked on several of the leading change of regime cases, including acting for the Governments of the Maldives, Ukraine, and Liberia.
Andrew represented the Federal Republic of Brazil and the Municipality of Sao Paulo in the long-running asset recovery case against the former Mayor of the Sao Paulo, Paulo Maluf. This mandate led to the appointment of Grant Thornton liquidators in BVI and UK and to the ultimate recovery of assets sufficient to meet the Municipality of Sao Paulo’s creditor claims in full. Andrew continues to act on many Brazilian bankruptcy projects and helps coordinate the Grant Thornton team globally and legal firms internationally to repatriate assets to Brazil.
“I have enjoyed joining the Grant Thornton team to support its global asset recovery mandates. I continue to work on many cases emanating from Brazil, working closely with external lawyers to help project manage the asset recovery process. I am also involved in various projects emanating from Bangladesh, again working with external lawyers to repatriate value to Bangladesh.”
Andrew is one of the founding members of ICC FraudNet (www.iccfraudnet.org), and maintains a strong global network of insolvency, fraud, and asset recovery specialists.
