Malcolm Gomersall confirmed as new CEO of Grant Thornton UK LLP

Grant Thornton UK LLP is pleased to confirm the appointment of Malcolm Gomersall as Chief Executive Officer, subject to regulatory approval. Having served as Chief Operating Officer since 2019, Gomersall was elected by the firm’s Partners to lead the firm for an initial three-year term.

Gomersall takes over from Dave Dunckley and has been assuming the responsibilities of CEO following Dunckley’s decision to step down from the role. As part of the firm’s Strategic Leadership Team, the pair have worked closely over the years and overseen significant investments in the firm’s people, processes and technologies to embed strong foundations for future growth.

An audit partner by training, Gomersall has been with the firm for more than 20 years and served in various leadership positions throughout this time, including as Head of London Audit and Tax and as Head of People and Client Experience, prior to taking on the role of COO.

As part of Grant Thornton’s Strategic Leadership Team, Gomersall served as board sponsor for the firm’s LGBTQIA+ diversity strand, tasked with ensuring representation and promoting inclusion throughout the firm, Gomersall has also been instrumental in progressing the firm’s ambitious social mobility strategy, which has seen Grant Thornton regularly place amongst the top employers in the Social Mobility Employers Index. He has also represented the firm in various industry-wide initiatives aimed at improving access to the profession over the years.
