Grant Thornton launches innovative HR Business Partnering course

Leading business and financial adviser, Grant Thornton UK Advisory and Tax LLP, has launched an innovative new skills and mindset development programme for human resources professionals; ‘Human Resources (HR) Business Partnering’.

On the back of the firm's successful Finance Business Partnering Development Programme, this development course seeks to support organisations in upskilling their HR talent to operate at the centre of business strategy, working in collaboration across all departments within an organisation and thereby unlocking value and opportunity.

With the role of the HR function fast evolving to meet the increasing demands of modern businesses, HR Business Partners (HRBPs) play a vital role in aligning human capital strategies with organisational goals to ensure successful business outcomes. They are responsible for adding value to the organisation and helping the business make decisions, especially during times of change.

The course is aimed at existing HRBPs, people already working in business facing HR roles, and those aspiring to move into business partnering. It will enable them to become an effective, strategic business advisor who works at the core of their organisation to help it achieve essential development objectives.

Ruth Walsh, Director and Head of Talent Solutions at Grant Thornton UK, said:

“We are proud to launch our HR Business Partnering Development Programme, which has been built on our many years of extensive experience of working with HR teams across all industries and sectors.

“Given the unique place HR has in any business structure, HR professionals gain a unique perspective and viewpoint that can, and should, be leveraged to help drive the organisation forward.

"HRBPs are integral in stakeholder management, influencing strategic workforce planning, and ensuring that HR practices contribute to the overall goals of the organisation. They are essential in managing the balance between operational and strategic demands, which is key to developing and maintaining a successful HR function.

“This course helps them achieve that, helping identify and action people and processes for optimal business performance.”

Katie Nightingale, Director and Head of People Advisory at Grant Thornton UK, added:

“As a HR professional working with People functions across industry, there is an increased need for HR to provide value-added services as we see the rise in automation resulting in process efficiencies paired with the expectation of an enhanced employee experience. The focus of HR to be a true strategic business partner is more important than ever and this programme provides a great foundation for this.”

Grant Thornton’s HR Business Partnering Development Programme is delivered by core facilitators and a series of experts, and it includes real-life professionals playing different roles to further support the practical scenarios. An Insights Profiling test, highlighting key personality characteristics which help with future stakeholder management and communication, and report to each individual are also included.

The course runs over three consecutive days and comprises a range of topics, including influencing and stakeholder management, the importance of good commercial awareness, risk and business continuity, culture, inclusion and change management, and strategic workforce planning. Immersive facilitated face to face workshops are blended with practical exercises, reflective activities, and role play. Insights Discovery psychometric profiling assessment and report, plus 1:1 feedback is also utilised.

The courses are being run at Grant Thornton’s London offices, with alternative locations across the UK available by agreement.  For more information please visit Grant Thornton's website.
