Grant Thornton names Nina Gopal as Head of Core Advisory

Grant Thornton UK has appointed Nina Gopal as Head of Core Advisory, as the firm strengthens its capabilities to help businesses navigate growth, transformation and an increasingly complex operating environment.

Nina joins Grant Thornton from a Big Four firm and will become a member of Grant Thornton’s Strategic Leadership Team.

She will lead the Core Advisory service line, helping organisations tackle their most complex challenges – from strategy, transformation and AI, to cyber, risk and regulatory change.

Bringing together deep sector knowledge, technology and practical delivery, the Core Advisory business works across organisations to turn ambition into measurable results. It’s advisory that goes well beyond traditional consulting – helping clients fundamentally change how their organisations perform.

Nina brings significant experience of working with large and complex businesses, leading major client relationships and bringing together different capabilities to solve complex client challenges.

Nina’s appointment builds on recent Strategic Leadership Team appointments of Frederik Vinten as Chief Commercial Officer, Abigail Fisher as Chief People Officer and David Gartside as Chief Digital Officer as Grant Thornton continues to invest in senior talent and specialist expertise to support its growth ambitions. The firm is targeting 160 new partners by the end of 2027 and has already made more than 100 partner appointments in 2026.

Malcolm Gomersall, CEO of Grant Thornton UK, said:

“Business leaders are dealing with a huge amount of change. Technology is moving quickly, the risk landscape is becoming more complex and there is continued pressure to improve performance and find new avenues for growth. They need advisors who understand those challenges and can bring the right expertise together to help them act.

“That’s why Nina is such an important appointment for us. She has a proven track record of growing businesses and bringing different capabilities together around what clients need. Under her leadership, we have a real opportunity to build on the strength of our Core Advisory business and make it even easier for clients to access the breadth of expertise across Grant Thornton.

“It also reflects our wider ambition for the firm. We’re investing significantly in the best people and technology to build a stronger, growing business that gives clients greater choice in the market.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to Will McWilliams, who has led Core Advisory on an interim basis since last year. Will has done a fantastic job and leaves Nina with strong foundations to build on. I’m delighted that we’ll continue to benefit from his experience and expertise as he gives all of his attention back to our clients and some of our most important and complex work.”

Nina Gopal added:

“The challenges facing businesses increasingly cut across traditional areas of expertise. A technology decision will have implications for finance, risk, people and growth, while a transformation programme touches every part of an organisation.

“That creates a real opportunity for us to bring the breadth of Grant Thornton’s expertise together around the issues that matter most to clients. What attracted me to the firm was its’ ambition and the strength of its Core Advisory capability, and I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundations already in place to help our teams deliver even more for clients.”
