Grant Thornton UK welcomes six new partners spanning public sector transformation, tax compliance and private equity advisory.
Leading business and financial advisor Grant Thornton UK welcomes six new partners across its tax and advisory practices, in the latest update towards its ambitious goal to add 160 new partners by the end of 2027.
The six new joiners, comprising one internal promotion and five external hires, take the firm’s total number of partner appointments so far this year to over 100. The latest cohort’s expertise spans public sector transformation, financial services tax compliance, private equity value creation, digital tax technology and restructuring advisory, reflecting the range of client demand driving the firm's growth.
Grant Thornton UK is building the deepest partner bench in its history, with 100 new equity partner appointments so far this year, taking the partnership to 317 equity partners.
Senior recruits point to the scale of the firm's ambition as the draw. Grant Thornton UK is building a modern professional services firm with the investment, technology and judgement to move faster, think further and redefine what's possible for UK business.
That ambition rests on three commitments:
Growth: In the six months to 30 June 2026, the UK business grew net income and EBITDAP against prior year, across every service line, at a time when much of the market was standing still. This is the result of a deliberate investment in people at a time when many others have pulled back.
Investment in client experience, powered by digital: A £500 million, multi-year investment in client experience, powered by digital, including the rollout of Anthropic's Claude to every practitioner.
Ownership: Every partner is offered equity partnership as part of a market leading reward structure. Ownership also extends beyond the partnership. In May, the firm committed to overhaul its Associate programme for the September 2027 intake, built around market-leading starting pay and a clear pathway to partnership. The firm has invested this year in experienced talent too, with the most recent reward round representing the firm's largest annual investment in employee reward to date, spanning salary, bonus, exceptional bonus and the creation of an Employee Benefit Trust.
Malcolm Gomersall, Chief Executive Officer of Grant Thornton UK, said:
“Welcome to the newest members of our partnership. Each of them brings something unique and valuable and will help us to strengthen and deepen the services we provide to clients.
“Grant Thornton’s ambition is to become the fastest-growing professional services firm in the UK. Look at who’s joining us, and who else is in conversation with us, and you can see that’s already happening.
“Since the beginning of the year, more than 100 partners have chosen to build their careers here. That’s what happens when you invest properly in people and technology and let the work speak for itself.”
The external hires join from firms including EY, Stax and EY-Parthenon. In addition, Steph Baker, has been promoted from Director within Grant Thornton's Turnaround & Restructuring team, as the firm continues to develop talent internally alongside targeted external recruitment.
