While profitability and employment growth remained under pressure, this year's Top 100 businesses generated a combined £5.2bn in turnover, an increase of 6.5% on the previous year. Consumer businesses contributed the largest share of turnover, while manufacturing and industrial companies made up the largest sector by number. Care, healthcare, engineering and construction businesses featured strongly among the county's top performers, highlighting key areas of economic strength. With international businesses contributing £2.6bn in turnover and activity concentrated around Bournemouth and Poole, the findings accentuate Dorset's resilience, ambition and growing appeal on both a national and global stage.
