Sam Haskins

I am a Partner in our Financial Crime practice, where I lead our Financial Crime Advisory & Transformation offering. I work with banks, payments firms, FinTechs and other regulated financial institutions on complex financial crime, regulatory and transformation challenges.

My experience spans both senior industry roles and consulting, which gives me a practical perspective on the challenges firms face when responding to regulatory scrutiny while continuing to grow and operate effectively. I have particular experience in regulatory engagement and remediation, financial crime transformation, and helping firms design control environments that can scale without simply adding cost. 

I regularly work with senior management, Boards and control functions on matters involving AML and CTF, sanctions, fraud, KYC and customer lifecycle management, governance and operating model design. Increasingly, my work also focuses on how firms can use data, technology and AI to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of financial crime controls while maintaining appropriate regulatory oversight. 

A sample of my recent engagements includes: 

• supporting a regulated payments firm through a significant regulatory remediation programme 

• advising a major European financial institution on its response to evolving Russia-related sanctions and countermeasures 

• supporting a UK digital bank with the interpretation and implementation of payments and financial crime requirements 

• advising a digital-assets business on its European regulatory strategy and MiCA authorisation 

• helping financial institutions review and improve KYC, AML and financial crime operating models, including the use of technology and automation to reduce the cost of compliance 

• undertaking independent regulatory and control reviews and supporting firms to design pragmatic, sustainable remediation programmes. 

Away from work, I spend most of my time with my family, and when I get the opportunity I enjoy travel and (watching) rugby.
