Partner, UK Lead Programme Risk and Assurance

Rob Bray

My role is to help our clients achieve their transformational outcomes and minimise risks to delivery. I have worked in support of some of the largest infrastructure programmes and projects including Sizewell C, HS2 and several NHS trusts.

I am Grant Thornton’s Programme Risk and Assurance leader and operate with Business Risk Services. An experienced P3M leader, I specialise in supporting organisations deliver complex transformation and change programmes by maximising opportunities to successfully deliver agreed outcomes and benefits.

My experience is unique within progressional services, a rare mix of leading major programmes and partnering with our clients to advise on how best to provide value adding assurance.

I focus on providing advice and long-term partnership to C-Suite leaders and Boards. I advise on the effective use of assurance across all three ‘Lines of Defence’ to mitigate the myriad risks associated with, for example, investment decisions, approvals and delivery milestones.

I also lead Grant Thornton’s integrated approach to risk and assurance. This recognises the increasing complexity of change programmes, the links to strategic enterprise risk and consequences of ineffective mitigation.

My experience spans several industries including government and public sector, energy, resources and industrials, and the UK water sector.

I spent 20 years in the Royal Air Force where I operated battlefield helicopters with experience on both the Chinook and Merlin. I  served in all major conflicts during this time and was awarded the MBE in 2009. Outside of work, I am married to Liz with two daughters, Georgie and Poppy.
