Klaas de Vries

I am a Partner in Grant Thornton’s Financial Services Advisory Group, leading our Insurance Risk Advisory practice. Drawing on more than 25 years’ experience in global financial services, I help insurance and asset management clients hone their risk management, regulatory compliance, and organisational resilience practices. My experience includes senior industry roles such as Chief Risk Officer, Audit Director, Regulations and Solvency Manager, and IFRS 17 Director, bringing a practical and commercially focused perspective to my work.

Leading complex risk, regulatory, and governance engagements, I work closely with boards and senior management teams to strengthen risk frameworks and respond to regulatory change across life and non‑life insurers, insurance intermediaries, and investment management firms. My areas of focus include enterprise risk management, risk framework and culture reviews, regulatory and supervisory support, technical risk management advisory, solvent exit planning, wind-down planning and complex actuarial engagements.

Outside of work I like staying active with interests such as cycling and hiking. I enjoy travelling with my family, especially if it involves outdoor activities.
