As the national Health Value for Money Director within public sector assurance, I leverage my expertise to provide insightful solutions to address the complex challenges facing the NHS today. With over 20 years of experience in public sector audit, my career has been dedicated to enhancing client services and ensuring the appropriate use of public funds. Since joining the firm in 2012 from the Audit Commission, I have continually advanced my expertise, culminating in my promotion to director in 2019, where I focus on both external and internal audits. 

Our Value for Money (VFM) audit supports healthcare providers in navigating financial sustainability challenges, improving governance practices, and delivering better outcomes for patients and communities. Our detailed reviews empower our NHS clients by promoting better stewardship of public funds and providing transparent reports on decision-making processes that drive economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. We offer objective and honest commentaries on our NHS clients' arrangements, while recognising the dynamic and highly regulated environment in which they operate. 

Our specialist VFM team excels in delivering high-quality audits and advisory services focused on key areas such as financial governance, risk management, and Board Effectiveness. Our collective expertise allows us to support clients in overcoming challenges by drawing on a wealth of experience. I have led the development and implementation of a risk-based approach that ensures our team delivers impactful reports within national NHS timescales, highlighting both notable practices and areas for improvement. My strong project management skills support this and are also vital to the delivery of internal audit programmes I oversee, providing assurance reviews in critical areas like waiting list management, theatre utilisation, and controls over financial management, helping clients optimise operations and achieve strategic goals.

With a background as a chartered accountant and qualified company secretary, I pride myself on delivering excellent client service and offering pragmatic, solution-focused guidance. Outside of my professional work, I am deeply committed to the public sector and serve as a Governor for my local primary school. Additionally, I am the HFMA key contact for public sector assurance, a member of the HFMA West Midlands Branch Committee, and an active supporter of CIPFA and the Chartered Governance Institute.
