I have worked in public sector audit for the whole of my 20+ year career. After being promoted to director in 2019, I have worked primarily with NHS clients, both in external audit and internal audit roles and more recently as the national NHS Value for Money director within public sector assurance.
The NHS continues to face significant challenges and it is fantastic to be able to share insight from my experience and relationships with colleagues and clients. Being passionate about the NHS and wider public sector, I joined the firm in November 2012 from the Audit Commission and have been fortunate enough to work with a wide variety of clients throughout my career.
I am known for excellent client service and being pragmatic and solution focused. As both a chartered accountant and qualified company secretary, I have worked with a number of clients to strengthen governance arrangements.
During my career I have worked with some of the largest and most challenged bodies to deliver audit solutions including large, risk-based internal audit programmes, specific assurance reviews in high profile areas like waiting list management, and value for money reviews for complex bodies. Key areas of specialism include risk management, wider governance reviews, Audit Committee effectiveness, programme management for large projects, financial sustainability reviews and effective delivery of estates and workforce strategies. In my national role I focus on ensuring we deliver value for money reviews across our client base to a consistently high standard which supports NHS clients to drive better economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in their use of resources.
I am passionate about supporting the public sector and volunteer as a Governor for my local primary school as well as being the HFMA key contact for public sector assurance, a member of the HFMA West Midlands Branch Committee, an active supporter of CIPFA and a member of the Chartered Governance Institute.
