I have worked in public sector audit for the whole of my 20+ year career. After being promoted to director in 2019, I have worked primarily with NHS clients, both in external audit and internal audit roles and more recently as the national NHS value for money director within public sector assurance.
The sector continues to face significant challenges and it is fantastic to be able to share insight from my experience and relationships with colleagues and clients. Being passionate about the NHS and wider public sector, I joined the firm in November 2012 from the Audit Commission and have been fortunate enough to work with a wide variety of clients across the Midlands.
I am known for excellent client service and being pragmatic and solution focused. As both a chartered accountant and qualified company secretary, I have worked with a number of clients to strengthen governance arrangements.
During my career I have worked with some of the largest trusts and blue light clients in the country. I have delivered complex external audits for clients including the transfer of services and significant financial sustainability challenges. I have also led the delivery of large internal audit programmes focusing on key risks and undertaking detailed work in some of the most challenging areas of delivery. Key areas include improvement programmes, estates and workforce. Being in a national role now, I focus on the wider NHS helping integrated care systems use their resources in a more efficient and effective way.
I am passionate about supporting the public sector and volunteer as a Governor for my local primary school as well as being the HFMA key contact for public sector assurance, a member of the HFMA West Midlands Branch Committee, an active supporter of CIPFA and a member of the Chartered Governance Institute.
