I joined Grant Thornton three years ago following 15 years working in engineering consultancies advising clients across the development and delivery of infrastructure projects, with a specialism in transport. Regardless of the transport mode or sector, the need for clarity of objectives, customer needs and integrated stakeholder management has been central to achieving successful outcomes across my career.
I enjoy working in the space where technical and strategic outcomes meet commercial and delivery realities; ensuring programmes continue to centre themselves on achieving the benefits sought throughout the programme life-cycle. My experience spans major national schemes and localised investment-case making, across projects including High Speed 2 (HS2), the electrification of Scotland’s railways, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure funding, new stations infrastructure and local and regional integrated transport solutions. Drawing on the knowledge gained as a Chartered Transport Planner, I navigate the technical, commercial and stakeholder complexity behind a scheme to build a case that stands up to scrutiny and secures investment.
My approach is client-driven and pragmatic, focused on finding outcomes that work for passengers and for the taxpayer. Ultimately, I believe transport sits at the heart of so many of society's biggest questions – connecting people, places and industry – and it has a genuine part to play in tackling social mobility, accessibility, inclusion, climate change and economic growth. That's what drives me.
When I'm not working, you might find me on the netball court, in the garden expanding my (still developing!) horticultural skills, or curled up with a good thriller.
