I have a varied background in finance and policy and I am using it to reach our Net Zero goals.
I'm part of the Net Zero Team – advising central and local government and corporates on achieving their Net Zero ambitions.
I am well versed with climate regulation and policy in the public and private markets especially linked to the Net Zero transition. While at Grant Thornton, I have delivered verification related to the UK Government’s Green Financing Programme’s 2023 Allocation and Impact Report; worked with local governments on tools to transition to Net Zero and advised on projects involving offshore wind and electric vehicles.
Before Grant Thornton, I was at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), where I spent time as a corporate finance adviser to the Green Finance team (working on UK Infrastructure Bank set up, issue of UK’s Green Sovereign Bond) and the Clean Growth Fund sponsor team. I was also embedded as a policy professional within the Energy & Security division, focused on delivery of low carbon technologies essential to achieve the Net Zero transition. As part of this role, I was instrumental in the creation of Great British Nuclear, an arm’s length body, key for delivery of new nuclear energy and hence the UK's Net Zero and energy independence goals.
Prior to that, I worked for several years in the finance industry covering M&A, and portfolio management, as well as ethical lending for SMEs and impact investments for early-stage social and environmental ventures. In 2015 I commenced working for a not-for-profit micro lender and since then I cannot envisage a career without purpose.
I'm a mother of two very active kids who keep me firmly on my toes. I'm passionate about reading, walking, and running, and I'm always looking for ways to make my choices more sustainable and guilt-free!
