Grant Thornton UK launches new degree programme in partnership with University of Leeds
- Talent Track will blend academic excellence with paid work experience for a clear path to chartered status
Leading business and financial advisory firm Grant Thornton UK has today announced the launch of a new BSc Accounting and Finance (Professional) degree programme in partnership with the University of Leeds, designed to attract and develop some of the brightest talent from across the UK.
Talent Track, a four-year degree programme, will be delivered by the University of Leeds and Grant Thornton. It will combine academic excellence with practical experience. Students will benefit from multiple paid work placements, including a full-year placement in their third year. Upon successful completion, graduates may be considered for permanent roles with Grant Thornton, including the potential for an ACA training agreement and a fast-track route to qualification.
The University's strong industry links and professional exemptions further enhance the programme’s value. As an approved ICAEW partner offering exemptions for the ACA qualification, Leeds supports the firm’s ambition to accelerate chartered membership for graduates, reinforcing the quality of its teaching and curriculum.
The first cohort is expected to start in September 2026, with plans to expand the programme in following years. Applications will be managed through a joint process via the University of Leeds admissions and Grant Thornton’s assessment and selection process, ensuring candidates are supported throughout.
Programme highlights include:
- Year 1 & 2: Academic study complemented by multiple paid placements and access to mentors and guest speakers.
- Year 3: A 15-month placement at Grant Thornton offices nationwide.
- Year 4: Final year of academic study with continued placement, mentoring and engagement.
- Post-graduation: Permanent role with an ACA training agreement, offering a fast-track route to qualification
This partnership is designed to make careers in accountancy and finance accessible to all. Through paid placements, an opportunity to join the firm on a permanent basis for successful graduates, and a bursary available for eligible students, Grant Thornton is tackling the financial and structural challenges that often prevent talented individuals from pursuing higher education and professional careers.
