Restructuring advisor promoted to partner at Grant Thornton UK
Turnaround and Restructuring advisor, Steph Baker, becomes the latest partner appointment at Grant Thornton, reflecting the continued investment of the firm and strengthening its capabilities across the North West and national practice.
Based in Manchester, Steph joined Grant Thornton in 2017 and has over 20 years’ experience supporting corporates, lenders and key stakeholders to navigate financial challenge and complexity across all stages of a business lifecycle.
As a restructuring adviser and licensed insolvency practitioner, Steph’s expertise spans a range of sectors including manufacturing, automotive and business support services, advising clients from strategic options through to complex, multi-stakeholder transactions. Following a secondment to an asset-based lender in 2022, Steph also leads the national ABL advisory practice, delivering pre-lend reviews, working capital management and funding solutions.

With more than 500 professionals across its Manchester and Liverpool offices, Grant Thornton's North West team remains a priority growth market for the firm, and Steph's appointment reflects continued investment in leadership capability across the region.
Steph's promotion sits within Grant Thornton UK's wider partnership expansion programme, which has added 84 new partners between January and June 2026, as the firm works towards a target of 160 by the end of 2027. The programme, backed by the firm's investment partnership with Cinven, continues to combine internal promotions with senior hires from across the market.
