Founded in 2005, Reach Cambridge is a leading residential summer school provider, delivering programmes to 14 –18-year old students from over 50 countries every year, at the University of Cambridge.

Reach Cambridge simulates an authentic university experience, offering over 30 courses across various disciplines with Business, Leadership and Medicine proving the most popular. The business has a deep library of content, with each course created by leading academics and industry professionals. Courses are taught by Cambridge academics and PhD students, who share their passion of the city and university.

Following a period of significant growth, the Founder & Director, Jon McGoh, chose to explore a sale of the business to enable further expansion of its offering, both domestically and internationally.

Recognising Grant Thornton’s deep education and travel sector experience, we were appointed to run a competitive auction process.

We invested significant time in our understanding of the business, tailoring a bespoke sales process designed around the key summer months, enabling buyers to visit and experience the magic of Reach Cambridge.

This drove competitive tension with interested parties drawn from educational enrichment, language training and the travel industries.

Guidewell Education LLC, is a California-headquartered, private educational preparation business, providing a suite of services to meet student needs, backed by Eagle Merchant Partners, a leading US private equity fund.

We had an established relationship with Guidewell, having known them since they first entered the UK market in 2021, and recognised the strategic fit with the profile of Reach Cambridge’s global affluent student base.

The transaction represents an exceptional result for both Reach Cambridge and Guidewell, pairing two companies with a very similar culture that will supercharge growth going forwards.
