A UK business leader is staring down another wave of uncertainty: volatile markets, rising growth expectations, and a lingering fear of making the wrong call. After years of shocks, from the 2008 financial crisis to the COVID-19 pandemic, the pressure to make bold moves is matched only by the fear of what happens if a decision backfires. In boardrooms across the country, we're seeing one dilemma keep resurfacing: is standing still the safest option, or is it now the biggest risk of all?
This is Alternatively Speaking, the Grant Thornton podcast where we explore the healthy tensions that shape modern business.
In this episode, host and broadcast journalist Samantha Simmonds is joined by experts in business psychology and financial services to unpack how business leaders can navigate crisis mindsets, build a culture of sensible risk-taking, and shift from fear to growth:
- Dr Susan Kahn, Business Psychologist, Author and Academic
- Alex Ellerton, Head of Financial Services, Grant Thornton UK
