During LGBTQIA+ History Month, more than 350 people from in and outside our firm joined one another virtually to learn about how we can create an inclusive environment for trans colleagues in the workplace.

It was an opportunity to move beyond the news headlines of what it means to be trans and hear directly from members of the trans community. Guest panellists Tate Smith, Robin White and Shiva Raichandani shared their lived experiences of being transgender in the workplace. They also offered tips on how cisgender people can be better allies to transgender colleagues and create an environment that is respectful and inclusive of everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation or any other element of a person’s background.

Overall, despite certain news headlines, the panel presented a hopeful view for the future and expressed what trans joy meant to them.

Malcolm Gomersal, COO, said, "As a leader of our firm, it’s given me a lot to think about, in terms of the steps we can take to make our firm even more inclusive and the positive impact I can have on others, the more I learn about how to be a better ally."

Shiva said it best: “Make us a part of your daily lives in a very intentional way”.

If you can set aside one hour to learn about inclusion, please consider watching this incredibly powerful, moving and informative webinar on trans inclusion in the workplace.
