As the head of the Japan business group at Grant Thornton UK Advisory & Tax LLP, I lead our advisory services for Japanese clients, helping them to succeed in complex cross‑border environments.
Alongside this, I am part of the Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) advisory team, where I provide specialist financial insight to support negotiations and help shape commercially sound SPA terms. My work often focuses on key value-driving mechanisms, including purchase price adjustments, locked-box structures, earn-outs, and other financial levers that influence the risk profile of mergers and acquisitions transactions.
Before relocating to the UK, I worked in Grant Thornton Japan’s financial due diligence practice where I led a broad range of buy-side and sell-side engagements for major trading houses, private equity funds, and multinational corporates. My experience covers complex carve-outs, tender offer support, and numerous cross-border mergers and acquisitions projects involving the United States, Europe, and Asia. This background, combined with my cultural fluency, allows me to support Japanese outbound investors with a nuanced understanding of their strategic priorities, governance expectations, and communication styles.
I am particularly passionate about helping clients navigate the unique challenges of cross-border dealmaking. Much of my work involves bridging valuation expectations, identifying and analysing financial risks, and applying practical negotiation strategies to drive balanced and informed outcomes. I have supported clients through both diligence and SPA phases on high-profile US and European acquisitions, ensuring that deal structures reflect fair risk allocation and clear commercial rationale. Analytical rigour and commercial clarity guide every engagement I undertake.
Outside work, I prioritise wellbeing through running. I also enjoy travelling with my wife and two daughters, and in my downtime, I also enjoy singing.
