Caroline Ievers

I'm a qualified insolvency practitioner with over 20 years’ experience supporting companies and individuals facing financial distress in a variety of sectors.

After over 16 years working in the insolvency profession, I took a break in 2011 and spent six years in banking, managing a portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses with commercial property portfolios. In 2020 I joined our insolvency and asset-recovery team where I specialise in investigating, formulating, and managing fraud and civil claims in an insolvency context.

Most of my work involves dealing with personal and corporate contentious insolvency appointments, including court-appointed receiverships, bankruptcies, liquidations, and administrations. Insolvency practitioners have legal powers to obtain files, company records, and bank statements, and compel third parties to provide information which assist in the identification of potential claims. Typically, these claims include breach of fiduciary duty, unlawful dividend, and antecedent transactions.

I work closely with restructuring colleagues, alongside our forensic and corporate intelligence teams.

I work for a wide range of creditors, including HMRC. Often clients and stakeholders aren't always able to incur further costs to instruct an insolvency practitioner or bring proceedings. In those circumstances a structure can be put in place to facilitate a mixture of funded, contingent, or hybrid appointments.

Outside of work, my family is my focus. I also enjoy sports (watching, rather than playing), walking our dog around the magnificent Manchester countryside, and relaxing with a book and a chilled glass of wine.
