Grant Thornton celebrates Black excellence in business with ‘Portraits of Power’ photography exhibition

Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK has today announced an inaugural photography exhibition in celebration of Black History Month.

The flagship event, taking place on October 1 2025, seeks to highlight the remarkable achievements and significant contributions of Black Britons to the UK economy and business sector through engaging storytelling and exclusive portraiture.

‘Portraits of Power’ will feature inspiring individuals across a breadth of professions, including medicine, tech, fashion, entertainment, orators and authors. Stand out participants include tech entrepreneur and former Dragons’ Den star Piers Linney, Kanya King OBE, founder of the MOBO Awards and Tunde Banjoko OBE, founder of Making the Leap & the UK Social Mobility Awards.

The exhibition aligns directly with the theme of Black History Month 2025, ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride’, highlighting the intersection between photography art and power while fostering conversations about the contribution of Black Britons to the British economy, unity, heritage, and progress.

This work forms part of a broader, ongoing commitment to equity and representation.

Grant Thornton maintains longstanding partnership with the Amos Bursary, a charity dedicated to empowering young people of African and Caribbean heritage. Through mentoring, professionals from within the firm support students to realise their full potential across personal development and academic achievement.

Additionally, the firm has been a member of the Black Talent Charter (BTC) since 2024. This cross-sector initiative aims to address longstanding inequalities and promote equal opportunities for Black professionals. Its goal is to ensure that the representation of Black talent at all levels of business reflects the UK working population within the next ten years.

Kanya King OBE, Portraits of Power participant and founder of the MOBO Awards, said: “Being part of this exhibition is a powerful reminder that our stories matter. Beyond Black History month this exhibition is about celebrating the ongoing contributions of Black professionals to the UK economy and making space for those stories to be seen and heard.”

Amaechi Nsofor, Partner and Black Talent Network Sponsor at Grant Thornton UK, added: “Portraits of Power allows our firm to spotlight Black excellence in a truly alternative way – by offering a glimpse of the individuals behind the success. We want to bring to light the unique journey of each participant as they sought to become established in their field to offer inspiration to future generations.”

“Joining the Black Talent Charter and continuing our partnership with the Amos Bursary reflects Grant Thornton’s commitment to meaningful, long-term change. These initiatives are not just symbolic; they are part of a broader strategy to ensure Black professionals and future leaders are supported, represented, and empowered across the industry.”

“The exhibition offers an opportunity to celebrate Black creativity while also fostering new relationships with a diverse clientele that reflects the firm’s values and commitment to inclusion.”
