Grant Thornton UK appoints eleven partners in January to expand leadership team

Grant Thornton UK has appointed eleven new partners across service lines in January 2026, reflecting the firm’s commitment to bold growth by developing talent and scaling capability across service lines.

Around 75% of the partners appointed in January have been internally promoted, reflecting the strength of Grant Thornton UK’s talent pipeline and the impact of the firm’s career‑long development programmes.

The firm’s Tax team appointed eight partners: Jeremy Chapman (London), Thomas Clubb (Milton Keynes), Jono Clare (London), Matt Foulger (Manchester), Edward Murphy (Bristol/London), Kelly‑Ann Preston (London), Rachel Stace (Oxford) and Douglas Tailby (Leeds), strengthening Grant Thornton’s footprint in major UK hubs and specialist tax disciplines.

The firm’s Strategic Advisory unit also strengthened its leadership with the appointment of two partners, Nick Jones (Bristol) and David Pike (London), enhancing Grant Thornton UK’s corporate finance advisory and restructuring capabilities, respectively. Meanwhile, the Audit unit added partner Michael Green in Manchester, expanding its capacity to meet rising demand for assurance services.

Three of the newly promoted partners – Matt Foulger, Nick Jones, and Thomas Clubb – began their careers with Grant Thornton UK and have progressed through the firm’s early‑careers pathway. Their progression reflects the firm’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities at every stage of a career and developing advisers who think beyond convention.

These appointments further support Grant Thornton UK’s bold ambition to build exceptional leadership capacity to deliver on its growth strategy, including the recruitment of 160 new partners over the next two years. This growth will be driven by a blend of internal promotions and external hires, each bringing distinctive, insight-led advice to clients.

In 2025, Grant Thornton UK welcomed more than 100 partners and directors, following the firm’s landmark transaction with private equity firm Cinven; a pivotal moment that strengthened the firm’s ability to scale, innovate and invest in areas that matter most to clients.

Malcolm Gomersall, Chief Executive Officer, Grant Thornton UK, said:

“We begin 2026 by welcoming eleven outstanding professionals to our partnership. These appointments reflect our belief in people and the power of opportunity. Each new partner brings a fresh perspective that strengthens our presence across key UK hubs, ensuring we have the right expertise where our clients need it most and enables us to further deliver outstanding client outcomes while building capability and confidence for the future.”

“By promoting from within and welcoming new talent, we are building a culture where exceptional professionals can thrive and make a real impact. It is inspiring to see colleagues who started their careers with us reach partnership; and it speaks directly to our commitment to creating pathways for those who want to grow, lead and shape a better future for their clients and communities.”
