Grant Thornton UK today announces the launch of a new service designed to provide finance leaders with a personal, tailored advisory experience that shapes solutions around the specific needs of individual finance teams and the ambitions of their organisations.
Recognising that no two finance functions are the same, CFO Solutions uses Grant Thornton’s CFO Scorecard as a practical framework to focus on the four dimensions of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role: value creation, stakeholder management, operational delivery and business protection.
The model is flexible to fit the needs of finance leaders from businesses of all sizes and sectors, who can choose any of the five stages of the service as a stand-alone engagement or combine them for a seamless, end-to-end experience.
The five key stages to Grant Thornton’s CFO Solutions support are:
Assess: diagnose root causes of challenges preventing finance teams from being effective and efficient
Design: creating or co-creating pragmatic, practical solutions
Fix: implement changes in partnership with finance teams, bringing tangible improvements, quickly
Run: hands-on support to run core finance operations through outsourcing solutions and resource augmentation
Connect: a programme of insight, events and peer connection for CFOs
In working with Grant Thornton’s CFO Solutions, finance leaders can expect empathetic experts, offering the breadth of expertise they need, combined with agility and personal service and solutions shaped around the ambitions they want to achieve, not textbook answers. The support provided is designed to be strategic, operational and hands-on.
Newly recruited Partner Sarah Hughes has been appointed as a key delivery lead for CFO Solutions, specialising in Financial Reporting. Joining the firm from KPMG, Sarah brings over 25 years of experience advising clients on the challenging and complex issues arising from transactions, business decisions and regulatory change.
Sarah says:
"The CFO role has never been more pivotal, or more demanding. Finance leaders are expected to deliver growth, resilience, and transformation at speed, whilst also navigating unprecedented complexity. We believe CFOs deserve more than generic advice. They need a partner who can anticipate challenges, unlock opportunities, and help them lead with confidence. CFO Solutions is our answer: a market-leading service built to empower CFOs to set the pace, shape the future, and turn ambition into measurable impact."
Sarah’s expertise in the field of Financial Reporting is complimented by the skills of the wider CFO Solutions leadership team, which includes Ros Murphy, Simon Davidson, Pinkesh Patel, Alex Mumford and Varun Dewan.
Simon Davidson, Consulting Partner at Grant Thornton, added:
“Finance functions are evolving fast. Through our latest Finance Leaders Barometer, CFOs told us that forecasting, talent development, ESG reporting and AI adoption are all very high priorities for 2026. Yet with limited capacity, achieving these goals demands a new way of working.
“Many of the respondents also highlighted a lack of the constructive challenge they need for change. Less than half (46%) see the tension within their wider leadership teams as healthy and 40% report insufficient debate. That’s a barrier to progress. Our role, and the purpose of CFO Solutions as a service, is to be a trusted partner and sounding board, creating the space and confidence for CFOs to deliver their full agenda.”
