Grant Thornton promotes seven new advisory partners to expand specialist sector insight for clients

Grant Thornton UK has strengthened its Advisory leadership by promoting seven senior professionals to equity partner, following the firm’s distinctive model where all Partners hold equity unless they opt for a salaried route.

All seven appointments have been made from within the firm, reflecting Grant Thornton UK’s continued investment in talent development. Collectively, these new leaders expand the firm’s advisory capability across key areas such as economic development, economic consulting, public services transformation and data‑driven insight.

This strengthened leadership capability enhances the firm’s capacity to support clients navigating complex challenges, from responding to shifting policy priorities and delivering place‑based growth, to making evidence‑led decisions that drive performance and long-term value. By deepening expertise where clients need it most, the firm is enhancing its ability to deliver practical, outcome‑focused advice that helps organisations move forward with confidence.

Rob Turner and Alasdair Grainger, both London-based, have been promoted to partners in the consulting practice. Rob leads Public Services Consulting and Alasdair will now be heading Energy Transition and Sustainability. Rob’s promotion enhances the firm’s ability to support government bodies and public sector organisations delivering large-scale programmes, while Alasdair leads a new integrated team focused on providing support to complex projects in the energy transition.

Tom Middleton (London) and Joel Strange (who works across London and Cardiff) have been promoted to partner and will be co-leading Economic Consulting. They bring deep expertise in economic regulation, economic advice in the context of disputes, economic modelling and policy evaluation and impact – helping clients better understand economic issues and make informed decisions.

Adam Hughes has been appointed as a partner in Debt and Capital Advisory, strengthening Grant Thornton UK’s capability to advise on capital structure, private equity buyouts and merger and acquisition activity.

Within Business Risk Services, Emma Young and Ben Langford, both London-based, have been promoted to partner. Their experience in risk management and integrated assurance services positions them to help clients manage uncertainty. Notably, both have been with the firm for nearly two decades, making this a significant milestone and a culmination of their commitment and hard work throughout their careers.

Will McWilliams, Head of Core Advisory at Grant Thornton UK, said:

“These new partners truly represent the best of Grant Thornton, ambitious, thoughtful and deeply committed to delivering for our clients. Their promotion comes at a time when demand for high-quality, commercially focused advisory support continues to grow.

“I am especially proud that the partners appointed have come through our own business. It speaks to the strength of talent pipeline and the long-term careers we build here. Each of them has already made a significant impact on our advisory services, and their leadership will be vital as we continue to grow.”

The promotions reinforce Grant Thornton UK’s strategic focus on building a market-leading advisory business, including the plan to recruit 160 partners over the next two years. Together, these appointments strengthen the Grant Thornton UK’s ability to scale its capabilities and support clients as they navigate strategic and operational changes.
