Frederik Vinten to join firm’s Strategic Leadership Team to power next phase of growth
Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK is excited to announce the appointment of Frederik Vinten as its new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to drive the firm’s commercial growth plans and strengthen client engagement across its service lines. The appointment signals the firm’s strong momentum following investment from Cinven and the calibre of leadership attracted to its growth agenda.
Frederik has more than two decades of leadership experience spanning global consulting, financial services, strategy and business transformation. He offers a rare combination of commercial acumen, operational expertise and senior advisory experience that will play a pivotal role in strengthening Grant Thornton’s market position and accelerating its growth ambitions.
Most recently, Frederik served as EMEA Chief Operating Officer at FTI Consulting, where he oversaw the firm’s corporate operating model. Prior to this, he held senior commercial and strategic roles across leading global organisations, including as Partner at Spencer Stuart, Executive Board member at Danske Bank, and Head of Strategy and M&A at Maersk Line, shaping long-term growth strategies and driving major transformation programmes. He began his career at McKinsey & Company and later advised multinational businesses as a Senior Advisor at Boston Consulting Group, deepening his expertise in strategy, transformation and performance improvement.
As CCO and a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, Frederik will lead Grant Thornton UK’s commercial strategy, drive integrated go-to-market initiatives and strengthen the firm’s client engagement across all service lines. His experience working within highly regulated and technology-driven industries, combined with his ability to scale complex, multinational operations, positions him to lead the continued evolution of the commercial approach and deliver sustainable growth for the firm.
Malcolm Gomersall, Chief Executive Officer at Grant Thornton UK, commented: “Frederik’s commercial acumen and global experience will be instrumental in our next phase of growth. His ability to transform strategy at pace will be a major catalyst as we accelerate our momentum and strengthen the impact we deliver for clients across the firm.”
Frederik Vinten added: “Grant Thornton truly stands out as the most dynamic and forward-thinking firm in professional services. The exceptional quality of its work, distinctive culture and ambitious plans to redefine the modern profession make this an incredibly exciting journey to be part of.”
Grant Thornton’s Strategic Leadership Team acts as the firm’s day-to-day executive management body, guiding strategic direction and upholding the highest standards of quality. Reporting directly to the CEO, the rotating partner team is composed of seasoned professionals committed to driving the firm forward. Other recent changes to the firm’s SLT include the departure of Darren Bear, who announced his decision to leave the firm in November and will formally step down at the end of the first quarter. Darren’s contribution over his 20-year career with the firm has been significant, playing a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s growth, guiding the firm through its transaction with Cinven and strengthening key client relationships. Frederik’s appointment reflects the firm’s continued focus on building strong commercial leadership for the future.
Malcolm Gomersall added: “We are deeply grateful to Darren for his dedication and wish him continued success as he embarks on the next stage of his career.”
The announcement comes as the firm advances its ambitious growth strategy and strengthens its leadership team with key appointments – including new Chief People Officer Abigail Fisher, new CFO Chris Stefani and several new board members – alongside bold plans to recruit 160 partners over the next two years.
