Grant Thornton Achieves Bronze Status on BDF Disability Smart Audit

Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP* has been awarded Bronze status on the Business Disability Forum (BDF) Disability Smart Audit.  This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone in the firm’s ongoing commitment to creating a more disability-inclusive workplace.

The BDF Disability Smart Audit is a comprehensive evaluation that assesses an organisation’s performance in disability, neurodiversity and long-term medical conditions inclusion across ten key business areas, including:

Leadership
Learning and development
Workplace adjustments
Recruitment
Retention
Customer and service users (our clients)
Procurement
Communication
Built environment (our offices)
Technology

BDF evaluated Grant Thornton’s evidence and provided tailored advice to help the firm further develop its disability goals.  Grant Thornton’s three highest-scoring areas were:

Leadership: Disability strand Senior Leadership Team sponsor, Perry Burton, openly shared his experiences with mental health to help destigmatise conversations around the subject.  Our disability convener, Vicky McLoughlin, leads initiatives promoting disability inclusion for our people and actively listens to feedback from those with disabilities or long-term medical conditions.

Workplace Adjustments: The firm has streamlined its workplace adjustments process, enhancing efficiency and accessibility for all employees.
Built Environment: In collaboration with the BDF, Grant Thornton ensured its new London offices are fully accessible by implementing best practices for inclusivity and creating sustainable property guidelines for future office spaces.

Vicky McLoughlin, Partner and Convenor for Disability at Grant Thornton UK said:

“Achieving Bronze status on the BDF Audit is no small feat. It requires a dedicated effort to meet the high standards set by the BDF, and only a limited number of organisations have attained this recognition. I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made with our Disability and Medical Conditions strand over the past few years, and this achievement underscores our commitment to embedding accessibility throughout our firm.

“Looking ahead, we are eager to build on this success. With the support of our Disability Champions— cross-departmental advocates who promote disability inclusion —we will review the feedback received, celebrate our accomplishments, and identify areas for further development in our action plan. Our goal is to continually foster a disability-friendly culture at Grant Thornton.”
