Grant Thornton and Teesside University launch new Applied Sustainability Apprenticeship

Leading business and financial adviser, Grant Thornton UK and Teesside University announce the launch of a new apprenticeship designed to build sustainability business skills.

Co-designed as part of an ongoing collaboration between industry experts from each organisation, the Applied Sustainability Professional Level 4 Apprenticeship supports employees to drive impactful social and environmental change with practical application from the outset.

Suitable for a wide range of new and experienced professionals who need to understand and apply sustainability in their roles, the course is delivered by Teesside University, an Ofsted Outstanding apprenticeship provider. Typical functions which could benefit from the course include HR, finance, governance, risk, procurement (supply chain), operations, data, responsibility and reporting, sustainability and marketing.

This twelve-month programme is suitable across all sectors and businesses working to deliver their sustainability strategy.

At the end of the programme, participants will have acquired the skills and knowledge to develop, manage, communicate and promote sustainability initiatives within their organisations. They will also obtain a broad foundation into sustainability for immediate practical application, helping deliver positive environmental and social impact for all their stakeholders.

The £14,000 cost of the programme can be fully funded by Apprenticeship Levy contributions or with 95% Government co-investment, thus at no additional or incremental cost to the organisation.

Julia Rockcliffe, Sustainability Training Programmes Lead at Grant Thornton, said,

“As sustainability becomes a non-negotiable for businesses, investing in developing the right skills for the future is vital. Sustainability can help businesses to innovate and grow, whilst addressing environmental and social challenges that post significant risks to future security and prosperity.
