I am Head of International and a member of the Strategic Leadership Team. In this role, I work closely with the CEO and Chief Commercial Officer on the international agenda. Prior to this, I was Head of Industries, focused on unlocking growth across all service lines in the markets we face and across agreed firm-wide sectors.
I joined Grant Thornton in 1989. On being appointed as a partner in 1998, I moved to the firm’s Edinburgh office to establish its Corporate Finance team and led the engagement on some of the office’s largest audit clients. I have held several leadership roles, including Managing Partner for Scotland, Head of Regions, Head of Client Delivery and Head of Large Corporate & Government Advisory.
I was born just outside of Glasgow and had a happy, busy childhood (playing lots of football!) with two older sisters, a mum who was a nurse and a dad who was a GP. I went to Strathclyde University to study Economics and then started working with Grant Thornton in Glasgow.
Outside of work, I enjoy a range of sports and outdoor activities, including cycling, golf, paddle boarding, and hill walking. Most of these I do with my trusted dog Jess. I have two sons in their twenties. My wife has Huntington’s disease, and so I help the Scottish Huntington’s Association with fundraising.
I am SLT sponsor for Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage.
