In 2013, Parris Williams began his career at Grant Thornton as an audit trainee after graduating from the University of York. He joined our Public Sector Audit team and embarked on a learning journey that combined professional qualifications, internal training and hands-on experience. For me, the main difference between being client-side and consulting is that, client-side, you’re very always learning as you don’t know the product you're implementing.
When I left university I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do, I’d always quite liked the idea of joining the Armed Forces, but lets just say it wasn’t given the full support of my parents when talking through career options, and I joined Grant Thornton in 2019 as a part-qualified auditor before qualifying and progressing to manager.
I’m a partner in our Corporate & Multinational Tax practice and joined Grant Thornton as a director in 2018. Before joining the firm I had spent all of my career in some of the larger professional services firms. I can’t imagine being anywhere else now, I’m in my third year as a partner and am constantly developing and being challenged in my role.
