At Grant Thornton we prioritise the environment, our broader societal impact, and our firm's governance to protect the planet, foster inclusivity and wellbeing, support our communities, and bolster our firm's resilience.
Our ESG framework enables responsible, sustainable, and ethical operations, and our Sustainability Leadership Group (SLG) enables positive change in our business and engagement in our environmental and community impact agenda. We give all our people volunteer days throughout the year, to support personal causes in addition to the firm-wide initiatives.
Community Impact
Our aim is to support underprivileged people in society find work opportunity and to lead sustainable and healthy lives, we will do this by:
- Supporting local communities through volunteering and fundraising
- Addressing social disadvantage through strategic charity partnerships and expertise
- Improving educational opportunities for people with fewer resources
- Developing work experience and employment opportunities for underprivileged talent
Our community impact goals are:
- To work directly with 5,500 young people by 2025 through our Schools Enterprise Programme
- To have a collective impact on social exclusion by volunteering a total of 20,000 hours by 2025
- To continue fund raising and double our efforts year on year, we are proud of the £1.8M we have already raised for charities to date
Strengthening communities through giving back
Volunteering empowers our team, building skills, networks, and confidence while also making a positive impact on society. Our focus is on supporting underserved groups in finding employment.
Environment and climate
We’re committed to minimising our environmental impact and achieving Net Zero, taking action to address our carbon footprint and we have set SBTi-validated targets as follows:
- We’ll reduce our scope 1 and 2 emissions 70% by 2030 from our 2019 baseline
- We’ll reduce business travel and commuting emissions 50% by 2030 from our 2019 baseline
- By 2027, 55% of our suppliers’ emissions will have science-based targets
- We commit to reaching Net Zero (reducing our emissions by at least 90%) by 2045 from a 2019 baseline
