Our journey from great to exceptional is well underway. With significant investment behind us and a clear strategy for growth, there’s real momentum.

Assignment Description:
Joining us in Regulatory Advisory – Financial Services Advisory (FSA)
Grant Thornton’s Regulatory Advisory team, part of Financial Services Advisory (FSA), advises firms of all sizes from right across the financial services industry on all aspects of UK regulation and how the rules and guidance apply to them. Our client base is broad and prestigious – and includes the regulators themselves. We work alongside clients to help them navigate legislation changes, adapt their operating models and stay ahead of an increasingly complex regulatory landscape, delivering insights and value that make a genuine difference.
If you’re an experienced Interim Interim Prudential Risk Consultant who’s tired of choosing between freedom and meaningful work, there’s another route. Within our Regulatory Advisory team, you’ll be given the opportunity to take on short- to medium-term projects that sharpen your expertise, stretch your thinking, and give you a different angle on familiar challenges - all without locking you into a single path.
Skills we are looking for
- Proven experience in a prudential risk management role within financial services, gained either in-house at a regulated firm or within a consultancy environment, with a track record of advising on or assessing capital and liquidity risk frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of key prudential regulatory frameworks, including ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery and Resolution Planning (RRP), with the ability to assess firms’ compliance with these requirements and identify areas for strengthening.
- Solid understanding of the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), including how its provisions apply to firms’ capital adequacy calculations, risk-weighted asset reporting and Pillar 2 assessments.
- Strong familiarity with PRA and FCA supervisory expectations around prudential risk governance, including experience engaging with or preparing for skilled person reviews (S166) and a sound understanding of what regulators look for in firms’ risk management and internal control frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with senior risk, finance and treasury stakeholders, communicating complex prudential risk concepts in a clear and commercially grounded way and providing challenge where governance or control gaps are identified.
- Experience with Internal Ratings-Based (IRB) credit risk modelling and/or Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) implementation would be highly advantageous, alongside broader knowledge of market and credit risk capital requirements.
Why Consultants choose the ATC

- You’re not left to navigate the freelance world alone. Our Agile Talent team helps you understand freelance regulation and connects you with people who broaden your thinking through our teams and clients.
- Community you can actually feel
- Connection shouldn’t disappear just because you’re contracting. From market insights to wellbeing sessions to networking events, you’ll be part of a community designed to make the independent path less isolated and more impactful.
