Job Description:

As an insolvency administrator, you’ll be supporting case managers and office holders on bankruptcies and liquidations.  The role involves dealing with statutory requirements progressing a portfolio of cases.  You will assist with investigating financial affairs, litigation and selling assets, usually properties.

The role is technical and varied. There will be specific training sessions and workshops that focus on both technical and quality aspects to help you develop your knowledge as well as ongoing on the job training   

The team in Bristol focuses on bankruptcies in England and Wales and is part of Insolvency & Asset Recovery which handles hundreds of insolvencies and is based in London, Bristol, Manchester and Leeds .Every case varies and you will always be learning something new. There’ll be challenges along the way but you’ll be supported and able to meet each one with a solution. That’s how you excel here.

Our five-year apprenticeship programme is designed to take you on a journey to professional qualification. For those applying to our bankruptcy team, here’s a glimpse of what you’ll experience during your first five years:

  • Responsibility from early in your career, taking ownership for interesting and challenging client work
  • You’ll get experience in everything from technical insolvency processes to investigations and finding solutions to practical problems
  • You will liaise with agents, solicitors and internal colleagues
  • You will develop a strong technical knowledge of insolvency as well as a basic understanding of aspects of tax and various other legislation, in particular, property law
  • You’ll develop a strong internal and external network to learn from
  • On the job learning, alongside a structured training programme

In this programme you have the option of either studying towards CPI (Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency) and/or AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians).  It is recommended that the CPI is not attempted in the first two years.

As a trainee, in-person working is important and is a great way to help you learn even more about the firm and the work we do, as well as building relationships and connections with your peers. Once you know the team you will be joining, we will advise of their working patterns, and of course where required there is flexibility within this.

  

Study 

You’ll need to be focused, committed, and organised as a trainee, to balance your study and work requirements. You will be provided with study leave to help you complete your professional qualification, but you will also find you need to study in your spare time outside of your working hours. Completing a professional qualification is a substantial commitment and its worth taking this into consideration before applying.
