A look into the role
As a Ethics Director within our team practice, you will:
Lead Director on the workstream “Supporting the practice – non-Personal Independence” (STP-non PI)
- responsible for oversight and management, ensuring the E&I team provide exceptional “customer” service and high-quality decisions (smart, fast, trusted) to the practice on corporate independence consultations and issues.
Key decision maker and final arbitrator in STP-non PI
- taking responsibility for review, challenge and approval of consultations completed by non-PI Senior Managers/ADs
- determining when Ethics Partner involvement is necessary
Responsibility for completing and managing the ‘matrix’
- a key tool which brings together how the E&I team demonstrates it fulfills all regulatory, firm and network requirements (eg, linking up regulation with risks, controls, policies, processes, guidance, training etc for QMA/ISQM1/GTIL)
Review of key ethics technical papers prepared
- prior to final Ethics Partner approval
- testing the firm’s interpretation and application of regulatory requirements, for example definitions, red-lines and practical application
Part of the E&I leadership
- helping to set the strategic direction of the team, its people and its evolution as client onboarding and Relationship Checking change significantly in the firm alongside other key digital developments.
- Designing and implement new ways of working in the team in response to changes.
Supporting Director on the Training & Guidance workstream
- Supporting the oversight and development of targeted training on ethics, independence and relationship checking which is focused, timely and relevant
