Emma Kirkpatrick

I am an associate director in our forensic and investigation services team in London. I’m a Chartered Accountant by background, having trained and qualified in the audit practice of another large firm.

Working in audit instilled in me a passion for understanding how and why fraud happens and how it can be detected and prevented. This led to my career in forensics and my personal interest in whistleblowing and audit reforms.

I have worked on a diverse range of forensic projects including fraud investigations, forensic accounting reviews, anti-bribery and corruption due diligence reviews, as well as quantum development for funding requests and claims. My focus is on forensic accounting, and I particularly enjoy projects which require combining my forensic accounting and investigation skills, such as investigating accounting ‘black holes’. My work has spanned a variety of sectors including facilities management, transport, media, government, and aerospace.

At university, I studied History and German, which is quite different from my career in Forensic Accounting, so when I’m not working, I try to practise my German and enjoy exploring places of historical interest. I also like reading, walking and very occasionally playing squash.
