Find out from our experts what business leaders should be thinking about as we head into the second half of the year.

According to our latest Business Outlook Tracker (June 2023), over two-thirds (69%) of business leaders are optimistic about the outlook of the UK economy. This is a 3% increase compared to the previous round in April. Our bi-monthly survey asks senior decision makers in UK mid-market businesses how optimistic they’re feeling, how they’re planning and preparing for what’s ahead in 2023, and their top concerns.

Our research identified three key priorities for businesses in 2023: growth, resilience and people. We’ve been speaking to our experts about these three areas and discussed where business leaders need to focus and plan for long-term success.

People

Invest in skills of the workforce and focus on Inclusion and Diversity.

Transformation and growth

Optimise how your business works to improve performance in 2023.

Business resilience

"I’d always encourage businesses to talk to their lender if they’re struggling - the earlier the better. This can help find a resolution before the problems become insurmountable."

Schellion Horn, Co-head of Economic Consulting

Mid-market businesses are starting to feel more optimistic despite rocky economic conditions, and many are looking to international markets for growth opportunities.
