I lead the firm’s pensions advisory practice across the north. I advise trustees and companies on a range of covenant issues, including regular valuation support, assessment of the impact of significant scheme and company events such as restructuring, reorganisations or mergers, and routine monitoring, together with affordability and alternative security options.
Prior to moving into employer covenant advice, I spent over 15 years' in business in a number of senior finance roles including business planning and strategy, financial reporting, post-acquisition integration and culture change, financial projects and analysis. I was head of M&A, company secretary, treasurer and I set up a DB/DC pension scheme which I ran as chair of trustees.
My early career was in corporate finance, where I advised extensively on management buy-outs, business valuations and public company transactions.
With this varied experience, I am able to guide employers on how a trustee thinks, but equally to guide trustees on how an employer will see situations. There is nothing quite like having been there and done it.
Outside work, I am blessed to have three wonderful children and three fantastic grandchildren. My rugby loyalties are torn between my town of birth (Leicester Tigers), upbringing (Northampton Saints) and my now local team (Sale Sharks) so I generally have something to celebrate and something to complain about!
