As leader of the firm’s Sheffield office, my role is to lead our local team of 100-plus people in the Sheffield City Region: meeting business leaders, engaging with the local market and helping us win new work.
With nearly 25 years in audit and advising clients, my main focus lies in working with dynamic, growing businesses. I specialise in listed and private company audit work, notably in manufacturing, engineering, and software and IT services. It has been a privilege to have advised many clients dealing with business change, both local and international, in particular working with senior management to maintain a stable focus through acquisitions, disposals, periods of rapid growth and financial restructuring.
I’m a board member of Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and chair the LEP’s business growth board, which is responsible for planning next-generation business support to be delivered across the city region. I also take an active role in business within Sheffield itself, where I chair the City Council's business adviser panel. I’m particularly enthusiastic to see that the public and private sectors working more effectively together.
Outside work, together with my wife and three children, I'm actively involved in our local church, Christ Church Fulwood. I am also a volunteer leader on Christian activity holidays, where I teach teenagers to waterski every summer; I am a governor at Birkdale School in Sheffield; and finally I’m a director of Yorkshire Artspace Society, which provides 130 artists and makers in Sheffield with studio accommodation and business support as they establish their trade, and is requiring me to develop my understanding of art culture.
