I have over 35 years of experience in customs and international trade working with clients across a variety of sectors and industries. As an associate director in our customs and duty team, I support businesses across all sectors to address critical customs cross border issues on their agenda. That may involve helping them to understand new legislation and border requirements or identifying customs special procedures that they may use to save on import duties or improve efficiencies.
I like to use my experiences prior to being in advisory to influence my work. For example, as a customs specialist in HMRC’s Large business section and as an indirect tax manager for a FTSE 100 retailer to bring practical workable solutions to the clients. My approach is to demystify the strange world of customs regulations.
Most recently, I have been collaborating with clients preparing for Brexit changes and continuing to work with them to manage the transitional period and now looking towards future opportunities. I have extensive experience of trade agreements, classification and valuation of goods, customs procedures such as customs warehousing, inward and outward processing and transit .
Outside of work, I am actively involved with customs trade groups, Acita and the Customs Practitioner Group. I also enjoy walking in the countryside close to my home, working in my garden, experimenting with cooking, and exploring new recipes from around the world.
