I am a director in our actuarial and insurance consulting team, focussed on life insurance clients, and have 20 years' of experience both consulting to insurance companies, and in a broad range of senior industry roles. These roles have primarily been focussed on capital but from a variety of perspectives including capital management, capital reporting and 2nd line risk oversight of capital projects.
My other experience is wide ranging and includes finance transformation, developing financial results for a stock market listing, external audit for a FTSE 100 insurer, implementation of Solvency II legislation, matching adjustment compliance, capital optimisation projects, product development and legacy system migration. I am experienced in leading large teams, managing complex change projects, assessing risk, identifying policyholder considerations and presenting to committees and Boards. I am a qualified actuary with 16 years' of post-qualification experience
My current focus is on climate change and the impacts for the insurance industry. These are wide-ranging and include investment strategy, assumption setting, capital allowances, product development and risk management. It’s fair to say that the industry is at the start of a journey in this area and the next few years will bring significant change as we adapt to new regulations, reporting requirements and customer preferences.
I am also passionate about developing high performing teams and act as the people lead for the actuarial and insurance consulting A&R team. I believe that success in any company is best achieved by building highly motivated teams, who are clear about their own career development and feel part of a supportive network.
When I’m not at work I love traipsing round the Scottish Highlands, acting as a camera assistant and videographer for my other half, who is a passionate YouTuber. This generally involves getting caked in mud, risking hypothermia, and being eaten alive by midges. For some reason, it’s still good fun!
