As businesses contend with the challenges of market uncertainties and the accelerated pace of disruption to established business models, creditors are facing increased complexity in restructurings.

At the same time, more borrower friendly loan documentation means that creditors are often only being fully engaged by borrowers when businesses are already in financial distress, with a limited runway to address the issues and achieve a solution.

A hands-on approach to a financial restructuring

This creates the need for a different, fast-paced, emotionally intelligent and multi-disciplined approach to restructurings.

We act as financial adviser to mainstream lenders, credit funds, special situation funds, security trustees and surety providers undertaking independent business reviews, pre-lending reviews, co-ordinating lending syndicates and creditors through a restructuring and providing commercial advice on options and transaction management support.

Our hands-on, pragmatic and proactive approach allows the experienced senior restructuring professionals leading our assignments to focus on the areas that are critical to maximising your value outcome. We have full European, international and UK coverage.

Multi-creditor and sector expertise

In multi-creditor and larger corporate restructurings, we have been involved in some of the highest profile situations across the UK and Europe, including House of Fraser, Debenhams, Thomas Cook and Nyrstar. Our restructuring expertise and independent assessment has also been sought on complex restructuring fairness opinions and valuation assessments by independent directors’ committees, security trustees and creditor groups, when contemplating challenging transactions involving multiple stakeholders’ scrutiny or potential enforcement strategies.

We have experience of working with private equity, listed and family backed companies across a wide variety of sectors and across multiple legal jurisdictions. The leading restructuring specialists in healthcare, we have worked on several large distressed situations in the market1, including Four Seasons Healthcare, HC-One and Southern Cross. We are trusted as asset managers for some of the largest portfolios of care homes, such as Larchwood. In the real estate sector, our multi-disciplinary team has undertaken options analysis, mapped out strategies for our clients to maximise value in developments and assisted them to manage their real estate assets.
