Our team combines audit, accounting and forensic expertise on matters involving suspected accounting irregularities, financial misstatements, and accounting or audit negligence or misconduct.
We advise clients and their legal representatives on both technical and practical considerations when investigating suspected accounting irregularities or fraud in their organisations, or are bringing or defending associated claims against in-house accountants, directors and professional advisers.
We provide technical support throughout an investigation or claim, or we can act an independent expert witness to provide opinion evidence and oral testimony in a trial or hearing. We have advised on several matters investigated by the Financial Reporting Council and its predecessor organisations, and are therefore familiar with all aspects of professional disciplinary and regulatory proceedings. We have also advised on criminal matters where false accounting has been prosecuted, and have acted for the Serious Fraud Office and for Attorney Generals in several jurisdictions, as well as advising companies who have discovered a problem that they may need to report.
Where we investigate suspected accounting problems for corporates, we can provide root cause analysis and recommend improvements to internal processes, controls and governance, and assist the company to implement a remediation plan to help prevent future incidents.

Multi-disciplinary teams with a deep sector and technical expertise
Each case is different and we can draw on the skills and expertise of over 4,500 colleagues in the UK and 45,000 colleagues worldwide to assemble an integrated team including relevant specialists, for example sector specialists, local GAAP expertise in foreign jurisdictions, and practitioners in a variety of technical disciplines, including financial reporting, taxation, actuarial and risk, pensions, valuations, audit, business risk, cyber, culture and governance.
We use leading edge computer forensics, data analytics and eDiscovery tools supported by qualified in-house technical consultants to collect, analyse and present our findings in a robust, well-documented manner that is accessible and user-friendly for the whole project team.
